Digital Orthopaedics: The rise of specialty focus in digital health

  • September 18, 2020

Hosts: Moshe Safran (RSIP Vision)
Guest Speaker –
Dr. Stefano Bini
Professor of Orthopedic Surgery @ UCSF
Founder & Chair of Digital Orthopedics Conference (DOCSF)
Chair of Digital Health Committee @ American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS)

Our guest speaker, Dr. Stefano Bini is a Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery specializing in total joint arthroplasty at the University of California San Francisco with a special interest in knee replacement. Academically, Stefano has two primary interests: knee arthroplasty surgical techniques and clinical outcomes, and digital health technology as applied to musculoskeletal care.

This webinar will address the field of Digital Orthopaedics, and how a new generation of technologies addresses the special needs of clinical practice using digital health tools, providing solutions in both diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Bini’s unique point of view includes the technical aspects as well as clinical and practical ones.

Healthcare represents 1/5th of the US economy and approximately 1/8th of the European economies. Such a large category cannot be easily addressed with a single catch all term such as Digital Health. Specialization of technological offerings is going to be increasingly required in the digital health space making room for a new generation of products intended to meet the specific needs of niche verticals. After all, one tenth of one fifth of a very large number is still a large number. In this talk we will discuss several themes including the importance of social and technological adjacencies and some of the very pragmatic ways the speaker is addressing the needs of a specialty clinical practice using digital health tools.
