The Tunisian people work as a team. We are together. Why did you choose a scientific career? I had very good grades. I was very good at mathematical studies in particular. That ’s why I went to engineering school . I l ike hardware. I wanted to study computer vision, so I understand the camera hardware and the engineering part. Then I worked in research on new systems and on new technologies. Do you see yourself more as a researcher, or do you enjoy teaching more? I enjoyed teaching when I did that in France, but I prefer to have the hands-on code. I mean that I prefer to produce new products and develop new approaches. I don’t l ike only teaching. Which direction do you see yourself going? Wi l l you remain in the corporate world? Yes, after my thesis, I decided to work in a startup. I was a key engineer of the computer vision team at Giroptic, a French startup company. I worked on virtual real ity appl ications. I did almost the same thing as my thesis, doing structure from motion but for 360 cameras. Then I did the 3D reconstruction from the spherical images to create a virtual model of the physical 3D space. After GIROPTIC, I joined Parisian startup Adok. I spent one year there, being the computer vision lead for their touch screen projector. I worked on some hand tracking and detection and some cal ibration work for the project.
