Computer Vision News - November 2016

Dear readers, This November issue of Computer Vision News is very special. Of course, you will find in it our regular sections; but you will also find two large inserts: Best of ECCV and Best of MICCAI . As you probably know, only a few weeks ago Computer Vision News had the honor to partner with ECCV2016 and MICCAI2016 in order to publish the ECCV Daily from Amsterdam and the MICCAI Daily from Athens. It is very natural that we offer also our regular readers the best articles published in the Dailies, together with new articles that have not published yet, like an exclusive interview with Polina Golland , which you will read at page 34. If you want to read more from the Dailies, you find them all in our Archive page . In addition to Polina, we had the honor to interview Michael Black , Octavia Camps , Jitendra Malik , Clare Tempany and Wiro Niessen . You will read all these exclusive interviews in the following pages. They are very original and enlightening. I wish to thank each one of them for his and her exceptional kindness. Of course, I wish to thank also Arnold Smeulders, General Chair at ECCV 2016 and Sebastien Ourselin, General Chair at MICCAI 2016 , for deciding to partner with Computer Vision News and for allowing us full support and complete editorial freedom. This concept of a Conference Daily magazine fills an existing need: it highlights what is happening at the conference, it offers an additional spotlight on deserving papers, it increases communication among participants and it also provides a precious report (almost in real time) to many scientists worldwide who were not able to attend the event.
