CVPR Daily - Wednesday

How long did it take? I think it took a solid two minutes before I realized that everybody had left. Was it recorded? No! [ laughs ] Tomorrow you will have your oral presentation. This is your first oral at CVPR, is that right? I’m sure if you were to present now in front of a crowd of a thousand people, you would feel a little bit nervous about it. How does it feel to present virtually? Do you feel like you’re missing out? Or do you feel like it’s better because you will be more at ease? This isn’t just my first oral. It’s also the first conference that I’m attending. [ laughs ] I definitely feel like I am missing out, sadly. It was like a roller coaster of emotions. I remember when I first got the oral, I was super excited. Then my friend was like, “You do realize this means you have to give a talk in front of like thousands of people.” I was like, “Oh, no!” I remember joking about it, thinking it would be great if we could just do it online or something! When you submitted the paper, did you hope to have an oral? At that time, I was sonewto research that I don’t even think I knew the difference back then. But you knew the difference between a rejection and acceptance. What was the feeling when you discovered that your paper was accepted for the oral? A little bit of disbelief! I was really happy with it. This was my first publication also. I was just trying to process things. I should get your autograph now! [ both laugh ] I honestly just think it was really great teamwork between everyone. I’m really glad that your career has already startedoffwithsomuchsuccess. You are amazingly upbeat! What makes you so cheerful and positive? I have no idea! I just laugh at everything! Maybe growing up, it was the environment I was in. My mom also loves to laugh. She’s always laughing. DAILY Wednesday Evonne Ng 27 It was a slight push!
