Welcome to the second MICCAI Daily of 2021 , published by RSIP Vision . We hope you enjoy today’s selection of highlights and recommendations for the day ahead. The conference is in full swing now and we have seen some fantastic presentations and posters already, with many more to come! We have all learnt a lot about online conferences in the last 18 months and so we have been able to refine and improve the virtual format for MICCAI this year. The best thing is we have less pre-recording and more focus on live interactions . The oral program is back! We had 1630 submissions, with 531 accepted papers , and 60 were selected for our dual-track oral sessions, with live presentations and live discussions with authors, which I know you are all getting stuck into. The most important job in making the selection for the conference has been done by the 1220 reviewers and 96 area chairs. We are very grateful for all their work! We have some great tools available, including SpatialChat , which you are all using to navigate the poster sessions. If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s a virtual environment where participants can walk around, view posters, meet each other, and discuss things with people nearby just like in real life . We have also made reviews and rebuttals of accepted papers public so that everyone can see the discussions and considerations that lead to papers being accepted (reviewers stay anonymous). We hope the community will find this a very useful resource. Also, this year we are able to share the accepted papers publicly on the website . Finally, I (Marleen) would like to acknowledge and say a big thank you to my fellow program chairs: Philippe Cattin, Stéphane Cotin, Nicolas Padoy, Stefanie Speidel, and Yefeng Zheng . We are all so excited to see the program come together and for you all to enjoy the fascinating and innovative work on show this year. Have a great day at MICCAI! We will be back tomorrow for the final edition of MICCAI Daily for 2021. In the meantime, keep sharing the magazine with your friends and colleagues. Happy reading!
