Welcome to the first edition of MICCAI Daily for 2021 . MICCAI and RSIP Vision (the publisher of Computer Vision News ) have partnered for the sixth consecutive year to bring the community our daily magazine during this year’s conference. Follow us today, Wednesday, and Thursday to stay up to date with all the highlights of this awesome event. MICCAI 2021 has already got off to a great start. We saw a number of satellite events yesterday, with workshops, tutorials, and challenges. Now, we are kicking off the program of the main conference and there is so much more to come. With all this fascinating content on offer, please do not be overwhelmed! We are working with two virtual platforms this year that will help you to navigate and plan your time. Pathable is our base camp. Inside the platform, you can use keywords to search for papers on topics of interest or specific authors you want to follow and find out timings for presentations. This year the orals and plenary sessions will be presented in live sessions through Zoom embedded in Pathable . We also have SpatialChat , which will host our poster sessions. This allows for the best possible interaction with authors . The platform will also be the place to go for coffee breaks, networking events, and visit the industrial exhibition . We hope that we can recreate some of the feeling of an in-person meeting, where you can wander from room to room and randomly find posters that you have not spotted beforehand in the program, as well as meet and chat to your peers. We have a thrilling day ahead featuring two distinguished keynotes. The first talk by Pierre Jannin is about sustainable research and the challenge of reducing our carbon footprint whilst storing more and more data. Second, we have Alyson McGregor , who will be talking about gender bias in medicine and medical research. There are also exciting events organized by the MICCAI Student Board , the Challenge Assessment , the Startup Village , and more. On our side, we have achieved the perfect gender balance with this editorial! In all seriousness, the organizing committee aimed for a good gender balance this year, and this is hugely important to us all. Enjoy reading this first issue of MICCAI Daily and be sure to come back tomorrow morning for more. Do not forget to share our link with your friends and colleagues!
