MICCAI 2021 Daily – Thursday

Maddy’s picks of the day (Thursday): Madeleine Wyburd is a final year DPhil student at the University of Oxford. She is based in the recently established Oxford Machine Learning NeuroImaging Lab (OMNI) lead by Ana Namburete. “My research broadly focuses on using deep learning on fetal ultrasound scans to monitor fetal brain development. However, after going down a few rabbit holes during my PhD, the work I am presenting at MICCAI is completely different and looks at enforcing topology in medical segmentations shown with MRI heart slices. It’s great to see the new MICCAI workshop, TDA4MedicalData, focusing on the role of topology in medical imaging. Don’t miss: Madeleine is presenting TEDS-Net: Enforcing Diffeomorphisms in Spatial Transformers to Guarantee Topology Preservation in Segmentations (Th-S2-524) today (Thursday) at 9:30 UTC. Visit her poster, she’s great! This is my first year at MICCAI and although it’s a shame not to be in Strasbourg, I am really excited for the virtual networking and to listen to as many talks as possible. The presentations today sound excellent, so it was really tough to narrow down my picks of the day. ”
