MICCAI 2020

DAILY Mo n d a y Clarisa Sanchez 31 doing? Currently, everything has changed with this pandemic. Many things have changed. Everything is online. I have a lot of meetings online. I also read and write a lot. It is also very difficult to get into that and to keep up with all of the advancements that are happening now. How can you have a lab online? Now we have to. This pandemic was a really good time to test our abilities, to have a virtual group where everyone is welcome no matter where they are sitting. We have a lot of meetings. We brainstorm offline on documents on the theories that we have. We are discussing these on separate documents, and then we submit them online. There are other platforms, like Slack, that allow you to be in touch with each other while you are creating something together. Now we need to do those kinds of things and take advantage of all these tools that are available. I have to admit, I just had a meeting with one of my students. I was telling her, “We need to have one day where we meet all together physically, at least even to have a drink together, at least to actually see each other.” I miss this social company. You are obviously very kind, friendly, and social. Have you ever felt unwelcome somewhere? Not unwelcome, but maybe that my position was not considered important. I think that was because I am a female. Sometimes I have that feeling that maybe they would approach a male figure before me because they think he is more important than me. That’s how I have felt before. Is there a chance that maybe you just felt this way, and it’s not like that? In the beginning, I began to think maybe it’s just me, but I see it quite often. Then I thought, “Okay, maybe it’s not just me ”. I saw it happen to other women. Maybe we can close the interview by saying that some women feel this way and should be viewed and respected equally. Yes, that is perfect! It is good that we try to avoid bias.
