MICCAI 2018 Daily - Wednesday

Raunak’s picks of the day: 10:15-10:30 Evaluating Surgical Skills from Kinematic data using Convolution Neural Networks 15:55-16:00 The Deep Poincare Map: A Novel Approach for left ventricle segmentation 16:00 - 16:15 How to Exploit Weaknesses in Biomedical Challenge Design and Organization Poster W-65 Automatic Skin Lesion Segmentation on Dermoscopic Images by means of superpixel merging Don’t forget to go to Raunak’s own spotlight presentation: 15:50 - 15:55 - CompNet: Complementary Segmentation Network for Brain MRI Extraction “ I have heard about MICCAI for a while now. I remember missing my deadline one year back, and feeling not super happy about it. Well at least this year I made it!!. So far I have met a bunch of interesting folks and have had the opportunity to discuss my own ideas along with getting useful feedbacks and new ideas from the different works presented by the other participants. Also I managed to obtain some really useful contacts in regards to future collaboration as well obtaining information of datasets such as the "Calgary-Campinas Public Brain MR Dataset" just yesterday. Datasets have been hard to come by recently mainly for cases with RAW Brain MRI with tumors and other pathologies and I do believe this one will help in my future work too. ” Raunak’s Picks For today, Wednesday 19 2 Wednesday Raunak Dey is pursuing a PhD degree in Computer Science at the University of Georgia (Athens, US). He is mainly interested in developing novel Artificial Intelligence based ideas for preprocessing and detecting potential anomalies in medical images. He has had some clinical exposure during his internship at Marshfield Clinic and shadowing radiology and intervention radiology departments there and hopes to provide solutions to the problems mentioned by the clinicians during the rotations.
