MICCAI 2018 Daily - Monday

Carlos, your word of welcome for everybody attending the conference. Welcome everybody to MICCAI 2018 in Granada. I hope that the conference fulfils your expectations. To newcomers, I would say try to enjoy as much of the conference as possible. Try to learn as much as possible. Here, you have the very top of everything, and the pioneers in many fields. You also have a very nice city to walk around and enjoy. What was the most challenging part in organising this very big event? From an organisational point of view, the most challenging part is to reach the same level as previous conferences – the levels of which have been very high – and to try to reach even higher than those. Also, the small details are very important. That’s something you have to pay close attention to. Is it fair to say that all these things were taken care of with success? It’s not for me to answer that, but for the rest of the attendees! I know that you have a stellar team organising this event. Would you like to mention any of them in particular? We have been working together on what we call the organising committee. Everyone has taken their roles seriously and I’m very happy with their assistance. I’m also very happy with DEKON Group, the professional conference organisers that have been helping us. What is your main hope for the next three or four days? That everything goes as expected. Which means very, very well? Yeah, no unexpected events occur, and everything goes smoothly and as expected! Finally, you mentioned the lovely city earlier. Any advice for navigating the local cuisine? Just walk around and go into any bar that you come across, and you will find very nice tapas there. “ Here, you have the very top of everything, and the pioneers in many fields ” Professor Carlos Alberola-López, from Universidad de Valladolid in Spain, is the MICCAI 2018 General co-Chair.
