She is also a member of the Wellcome / EPSRC Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences at UCL and is involved in the Guided Instrumentation for Fetal Therapy and Surgery (GIFT-Surg) project . GIFT-surg, a multidisciplinary project, is contributing towards increasing the possibilities of performing safe and effective minimally invasive fetal surgery. With her background in Computer Vision, Deep Learning and Robotics, Sophia recently dived into the application domain of Medical Imaging. Her main driving force for taking this direction is the potential to contribute towards improving healthcare. Sophia believes that MICCAI is an excellent platform for liaising with world- leading researchers in medical imaging and computer assisted interventions along with strengthening her understanding and knowledge in this area. She is very passionate about her work and is always up for accepting new challenges in newer research directions. Her research interests include image registration and reconstruction, cross-modality inference and medical image segmentation. Do find her during MICCAI event to learn more about her adventurous academic and research journey in Europe. Sophia’s Picks For today, Monday 17 2 Monday Sophia was featured as Woman in Computer Vision on Computer Vision News of September 2016 .
