Poster Presentation: Automatic High Resolution Segmentation of the Prostate from Multi-Planar MRI 10 Thursday ISBI DAILY The purpose of Anneke’s work is to obtain a high-resolution prostate segmentation which is essential for diagnosis and therapy planning in prostate cancer , and for MRI TRUS- guided biopsies . It gives a more precise localization of the prostate and its shape and outer boundary, which is needed for localizing a tumor and can help to plan surgical intervention if necessary. Prostate segmentation is not new, but previous approaches have generally relied on axial (top to bottom) MRI scans. The novelty of this work is that it uses multiple views and volumes of Anneke Meyer is a PhD student at the University of Magdeburg. She talks to us before her poster session later today where she will be presenting her work on prostate segmentation. Anneke Meyer “ It uses multiple views and volumes of the prostate – not only axial scans, but also sagittal and coronal scans. ”
