Matthias was so kind to recommend his friend and co-author Eli Verwimp's presentation. But he catastrophically forgot to recommend his own! He will present his poster “Continual Prototype Evolution: Learning Online from Non-Stationary Data Streams” today (Friday) at 3:00pm EDT in Session 7. Don't miss it! Matthias De Lange is a last-year PhD student at the KU Leuven Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Leuven.AI). He works in the Processing Speech and Images (PSI) lab, under the supervision of Tinne Tuytelaars. “In my PhD I try to improve the life quality of neural networks. They are really forgetful (and in fact it’s a catastrophe) when learning multiple tasks sequentially. Solving this opens the door towards adaptive AI, where the systems we design are responsively learning from our ever- changing world. It has really become a passion and I’m especially intrigued by how we can outweigh the risks with the gains for real-world self-evolving systems. Too bad we can’t meet in real life at the ICCV coffee breaks, but I’m excited to virtually encounter your work and discuss some research. We’ll just bring our own coffee!”
