ICCV Daily 2019 - Tuesday

4 Editorial DA I L Y Good morning ICCV! Welcome to ICCV 2019 and the first issue of ICCV Daily . ICCV and RSIP Vision (the publisher of Computer Vision News ) have partnered once again to present this magazine to our community throughout the conference in Seoul. Follow us for the rest of this week as we bring you daily news, highlights and previews of all the action from what promises to be an unforgettable event! This year, we were so impressed to see more than double the number of papers submitted compared to ICCV 2017. As a result of all your efforts, we have had to scale things up in ways that we hadn’t anticipated! The first thing we did was increase the number of area chairs: we had almost 180 . We also had something like 3,000 people reviewing for the conference. Scaling the reviews was the main challenge for us because the domain is growing so fast and the new generation doesn’t have all the expertise they need yet to perform the task. We put very strict guidelines and deadlines on the area chairs in terms of how they tracked the reviewers. We also cross-checked reviews in terms of quality and had secondary area chairs who helped with quality control . We want to give exposure to as many papers as we can this year, so we have 200 short 5-minute oral presentations . This means that 20% of the papers have been selected for orals , compared to 2% in 2017. We have also increased the size and number of the posters so that there is enough time for you to visit as many as you can. Please enjoy the magazine and we wish you all a very successful ICCV 2019!
