Dear reader, Welcome to ECCV 2016 in Amsterdam . We are very excited by the exceptional quality of the work which is going to be presented this week, starting from the impressive workshops already held on Sunday and Monday. One major novelty of this conference is that ECCV 2016 has partnered with Computer Vision News (a publication by RSIP Vision ) to publish this ECCV Daily magazine , of which you are reading the very first edition. This is the first offspring of the CVPR Daily which many of you enjoyed earlier this year in Las Vegas. The purpose of this ECCV Daily is to give additional visibility to some of the great work presented here and expose the impressive people who did it. The role of Computer Vision technologies in modern society is constantly expanding: countless fields have been completely transformed during the last years by the work of computer vision scientists , many of whom are with us during this week.
