ECCV 2016 Daily - Thursday

Angel Lang works for Panasonic Silicon Valley Laboratory . ECCV Daily: Why is it so important for Panasonic to be present here today at ECCV? Angel Lang: Panasonic Silicon Valley goes to many machine learning and deep learning conferences. We’ve made it a habit to create more of a presence around what we do. We focus on deep learning applications for autonomous systems such as autonomous vehicles, drones, robotics, human machine interaction, things like that. ECCV Daily: Is this the first ECCV where you’ve done something like that? Angel: It’s the first ECCV. In the past we’ve been to places like ICML. We go to NIPS every year. We’re broadening a little bit by going to ECCV this year. ECCV Daily: What would you like to take away from this conference? Angel: Our main goals are recruitment, but also just getting the word out that Panasonic is heavily involved in deep learning and machine learning applications. Many people are surprised by that so that’s always a good goal for attending the conferences. ECCV Daily: Is there something we don’t know about Panasonic that we should know? Angel: I think a lot of people think of Panasonic just as Panasonic Consumer Electronic Company. It’s a very big company so there is still a lot of that, but we are Research and Development, so our main focus is deep learning for autonomous systems. We’re getting the word out. We’ve been doing that for a quite a while now so we’re actually pretty good at it. Panasonic 13 ECCV Daily: Thursday “ our main focus is deep learning for autonomous systems ”
