I work with the teams in the US, in the San Francisco area and in the New York area. We try to work together, even i f we are in completely di fferent parts of the world. We sti l l col laborate on the same projects. This makes us di fferent but close. What are the chances that you wi l l go back to work in Tunisia one day? [ laughs ] Zero! Real ly? Can you tel l us why? In Tunisia, there are many companies working on new technologies, but we don’t have many startups focusing on computer vision. The computer vision area is not very wide in Tunisia. That ’s why. Maybe one day! Maybe one day I wi l l create my own startup! And you wi l l partner with Samsung! Yes! work at Samsung? I ’m a senior computer vision engineer at Samsung NEXT on the product team. We are focusing on many software appl ications related to arti f icial intel l igence, machine learning, and computer vision in general . I ’m focused on 3D reconstruction and local ization appl ications in augmented real ity and virtual real ity. For example, scene understanding. Our team is especial ly excited to be exploring machine learning in f itness and many other growth areas for Samsung. You sound very passionate and you obviously real ly enjoy what you do. What do you find fascinating about these tasks? I found that every new technology is fascinating. As we do some research and development appl ications, it is real ly inspiring to create new algorithms and apply them to real appl ications, to make research happen in the real world. You have had many teachers. Can you tel l us one lesson that has meant the most to you in your career, or in l ife? I did some teaching during my PhD. For me, teaching inspired me to be next to the students and to try to communicate the scienti f ic value, to make the students understand
