51 How to Write a Good Review that address both the reviewers and the area chair. One main point of Andrew’s talkwas to see reviews as anopportunity to improve a paper , either for a camera ready or a resubmission. He advised authors to remain calm and to try to remain objective about the reviewers’ concerns. He further gave practical advice on how to approach the rebuttal writing process. In the fourth part of the tutorial, Vittorio Ferrari described the review system used at ECCV 2018, with detailed insights into each step and the associated statistics . A second focus of his talk was on how to be a good reviewer as part of such a system. To this end, he gave examples of bad reviewer behavior from his own experience while explaining the problems that these examples caused. A main message, echoed throughout this tutorial by the speakers, was to write the type of reviews that we ourselves would like to receive . In the final presentation of the tutorial, Greg Mori talked about the reviewing system used at CVPR 2020 , his experience with it, and provided statistical insights from CVPR 2020. An emphasis of his talk was the importance of reviews to the decision process and that writing good, constructive reviews has a positive impact on conferences and the community . At the last session of the tutorial, all speakers participated in a panel discussion. The tutorial was streamed live on YouTube , allowing Laura and Torsten to forward questions from the audience to the speakers. This resulted in a lively discussion, showing the interest of the community in such an important topic. The slides of the talks are available on the tutorial website and a recording of the talks and discussion is available on YouTube, where it has received more than 9,000 views so far. Laura and Torsten hope that these materials will prove useful for future conferences and will provide educational resources to the community. Vittorio Ferrari Best of CVPR 2020
