Women in Computer Vision 36 Best of MIDL 2020 Nicola Rieke is a Senior Deep Learning Solution Architect at NVIDIA focusing on AI in healthcare. Nicola, what does an architect do nowadays? That’s a good question! When I had my interviews at NVIDIA, I asked the same question because I wasn’t aware what Solution Architect meant. I got different answers depending on who was responding. It’s a very multi-faceted job with a lot of travel. If you have to summarize it in one sentence, it's a technical expert that advances and advises on AI in healthcare. In other words, it’s actively supporting the medical community with advances in deep learning solutions. There are different levels: research institutes, hospitals, universities, also industry, from startups up to big corporate. I still teach, and I still do research. You are coordinating all of these hospitals, enterprises, and doctors. What do you seek from them? I want to learn and sharemy knowledge. For me, the important thing is that the entire field advances. I’m convinced “I want to learn and share my knowledge.”
