Computer Vision News - October 2018

…since her early years Passionate for Japanese food… I think we should keep on thinking about what is the right kind of society we want to live in, and not give up. Only thinking? The thinking part is being optimistic that there could be change. Did you ever think about doing something practical in this direction? Yes, I organized a Women in Computer Vision workshop. Here? At ECCV… It was great! A lot of people attended. We had great speakers, a lot of companies. Everybody was so supportive. We get travel grants so we have to contact the sponsors to get money from them. They are very supportive. The speakers are very supportive. They’re great. What did you learn from organizing the Women in Computer Visionworkshop? I learned that to organize a workshop, you have to get funding for the attendees. You have to organize a dinner, keynote speakers, a conference publication, and proceedings. It requires a lot of work. I was really glad to have my other co-organizers. Without them, it wouldn’t have been possible. The amount of work that goes on behind these active diversity organizations isn’t easy so now I appreciate it more.
