Dear reader, This is the 12 th issue of Computer Vision News , which means we have come full circle and completed a whole year since April 2016 . We have come a long way since the day we started: we have now thousands of subscribers and regular readers; we share the impressive work of hundreds of talented scientists; we partner with three of the major Conferences ( CVPR , ECCV and MICCAI ) to publish their daily magazines; we fortify the bridge between academia and industry ; most importantly, we give the algorithm community the magazine it wants and deserves. You can be a partner in this project: subscribe for free and subscribe your colleagues and friends; and give us a genuine feedback on how we are doing. For a monthly magazine, one full year of publication is the first step toward maturity. That’s why we look beyond improved graphics and the regular sections which you read every month; in a few weeks we will publish our first special edition : in fact, we are currently preparing Boston Vision , a publication that will try to uncover some of the vibrant vitality animating the image processing and computer vision community in Boston. Stay tuned! This March issue of Computer Vision News is (as usual) content-rich: our main guest is Nikita Johnson , the founder of RE•WORK who is behind some of the most acclaimed events in our field. The App of the Month is Volumental , a Swedish project ensuring that we always get shoes that fit us. The woman scientist is Viviana D’Alto , an Italian industry veteran working on distributed intelligence and deep learning. Don’t miss the Tool of the Month, demonstrating faster R-CNN implemented in MXNet . You will love reading this March magazine. Please keep sharing it with colleagues and friends. Enjoy the reading!
