Computer Vision News - April 2016

Dear reader, It is a pleasure for me to greet you from the lines of this new magazine. RSIP Vision has decided to launch this project for several reasons and I think we should share them with you, as you start to read this first issue of Computer Vision News , the new magazine of the computer vision community. Why a computer vision magazine? Well, firstly because there is none available today: we are working in one of the fastest growing and most promising business fields in the high- tech arena; and still, there is no reference magazine on which we can learn the news, share our views and be part of a community. We try to fill the empty space between scientific papers summarizing academy research and hardware-related commercial journals. Our magazine is dedicated to the algorithm developers community. Is publishing this magazine the role of a business company like RSIP Vision? Or should it be done by a real publisher? Well, sometimes a commercial and technology company has to give to its community and it's a honour for us to take this role. If a publisher wants to partner with us in this venture, we’ll be more than happy to hear about that. Finally, how will we separate our role as a provider of computer vision software and services from our task of editing this Computer Vision News ? Franky, I am not sure that we should. We feel confident to launch this online magazine because, as one of the market leaders, RSIP Vision has reached the maturity to provide valuable information to those who have any interest in the field: other software companies, corporate clients, industry manufacturers, consultants, academy, students and so on. Are we right to think so? Readers will decide: we'd love to hear from you after you have finished reading this issue of Computer Vision News. Please tell us what you would like to find in it next month. This magazine should benefit all the computer vision community, so please make sure that we hear your voice too. Enjoy the reading!
