CVPR Daily - Monday
4 DAILY CVPR Monday Editorial... Good morning CVPR! Welcome to the first issue of CVPR Daily for 2021 . CVPR and RSIP Vision (the publisher of Computer Vison News ) have once again partnered to provide the community with our daily magazine during this lively and compelling virtual conference. We aren’t yet able to meet in person, but have no fear, CVPR Daily will continue to bring you the same mix of news, interviews and previews every morning that you have come to expect. Follow us today, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to ensure you are always up to date with this premier computer vision event! This year, every paper will have a designated five-minute talk that can be viewed via the virtual platform, and we have around 1,500 papers to be presented over the four days. Being virtual actually makes it a little easier to digest the papers and the short presentation time allows you to get an overview very quickly. If you are more interested, you can dive in further by reading the PDF poster and contacting the authors. For first-time participants , our advice would be to treat this a little bit as if you were at a physical conference. Identify the papers that you are interested in and dedicate at least as much time as you would at a non-virtual event to clicking through watching videos of the best that computer vision has to offer this year. That is a fantastic place to start. We are particularly excited about our keynote speakers . Having none of the constraints of a physical conference, we have gone all out on booking a plethora of unique and fascinating people from all over the world. They will be covering a variety of subjects that a computer vision researcher can relate to and that they are not hearing every day or reading in papers. Listen and get inspired by them and we will have moderators who will ask questions and squeeze out all the hot topics and issues that we should be discussing as a community. Organizing this year’s conference hasn’t been without its challenges. First, we had to deal with the unfortunate consequences of the pandemic, which was affecting everyone involved in the program. We have been supportive and respectful of what people are going through in these times and tried to reduce the load on everyone as much as we could. “ 1,500 papers to be presented over the four days! ”
