Dear reader, Following the success of Boston Vision , last year’s special edition which we dedicated to the vibrant Boston community , we are happy to introduce another special edition of Computer Vision News dedicated this time to the pulsating Bay Area algorithm community . Naturally, we have much to share in this magazine about the many impressive developments coming from Silicon Valley, a leading hub of technical and scientific innovation. For that, we asked twelve companies from the San Francisco area in the field of computer vision and image processing to open their doors and tell us what they do. The result is this fine Bay Vision report, which we hope you will enjoy reading as much as we enjoyed preparing. We know that it cannot give a complete panorama of all that happens in Silicon Valley , but it might offer you some remarkable insights. All of these companies are deeply involved in advanced scientific work and have much knowledge and experience to share with us. The Bay Area is a very important venue for RSIP Vision : besides our traditional presence in the area, we dedicate much of our energy to work with the local industry and academia . It is therefore perfectly natural for us to offer this Bay Vision publication to our numerous friends and partners there and our readers worldwide. We believe RSIP Vision can be an asset for many Silicon Valley firms who want to use image processing and computer vision to perfect their products and services. Our company is at the forefront of these technologies and we would be glad to discuss your projects with you. Please consider these few lines as a personal offer to open a channel of communication with you. We hope you will appreciate this Bay Vision magazine. Enjoy the reading!
